F.A.Q.

Do I need a partner?

Most of our students come without a partner, so you won't be left out. Our classes rotate partners, we encourage everyone to dance with as many people as possible!

What do I wear?

Whatever is comfortable for you to move around in. Culturally WCS dancers dress casual, with most people commonly wearing t-shirts and jeans. Dance shoes are not necessary for beginners, but try to avoid very sticky shoes and flip-flops!

Do I need dance experience?

Our beginners class is designed for people with no dance experience whatsoever - don't worry we will get you up to speed and having fun in no time!

What music do we dance to?

West Coast Swing is danced to a wide variety of music, from blues, to R n' B, to top 40 pop, to acoustic covers and more! The beauty of our style is we have so much variety available to us we never get bored.

What is West Coast Swing?

West Coast Swing is a "swing" dance, but nothing like what you are probably imagining. Where many swing styles seem to emulate the era in which they were popularised, West Coast Swing has evolved (and still is!) with the times to create a smooth, easy and fun style that has exploded in popularity all over the world.

Check out some Champion dancers in action to see what the style is all about!
